Hope for the Hopeless

While in the emergency room last night with my husband, someone down the hall died. The wails that came from that room were heart wrenching. So full of pain. I praise God I still have my husband. My children. My parents. I don’t know what I’d do without them. I mean, I know God would bring me through, but, in the meantime, there’s so much pain!

I don’t know how anyone could go through any of that without Christ! The poor woman down the hall sounded so helpless, so hopeless… I’m glad I know the God of hope. I don’t have to wonder where my loved ones are going or if I’ll ever see them again. I don’t have to fall into a pit of despair, facing an abyss of no hope. God is there for comfort. God is good. I’m so glad that when my sister died, He was there for me. I didn’t have to face this “valley of the shadow of death” alone. He led me through. He held my hand. He was there to comfort me. I didn’t face an abyss of no hope. I had hope.

calvary_by_khan71You have hope. Even if your loved one did die in his or her sin, you have access the THE HOPE. He is there for you. He offers comfort, comforting the afflicted, comforting His chidren. Are you one of His children so He may comfort you? So He may offer you hope? So you don’t have to face the abyss of hopelessness? Many of us face hopelessness every day. Maybe not through the death of a loved one. Maybe not through the sickness of someone we care for, but maybe through trials we face. Maybe we simply face depression, Bipolar, Schizophrenia, OCD,or PTSD. Maybe our child awakes to battle yet another day in the face of ADHD, ODD, or PANDAS. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying ANY of this is simple. IT’S NOT!! I KNOW!! But it IS easier with God!

bible-biblia-book-1112048 B#3 in indexHOW DO I GET THAT HOPE? So glad you asked!!

(1) You must know you’re not perfect. You sin. Romans 3:23, “For ALL HAVE SINNED and come short of the glory of God”.

(2) You must know you are destined for a devil’s Hell because of it. Revelation 21:8, “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

(3) YOU DON’T HAVE TO GO TO HELL! JESUS PROVIDED A WAY OUT!! John 3:14-18, “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”

(4) All you have to do is believe that Jesus was born sinless, of a virgin, and lived a sinless life, that He laid down His life on the cross of John 3:16 for you because of your sins to save you from your eternal destination, and that He rose again three days later according to the Scripture for you. The Bible says all we have to do is believe this and confess it! Romans 10:9-10, 13, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation… For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

What is YOUR choice? I hope you’ll call upon the God Who can give the hopeless hope! Just believe and tell Him what you believe. Speak to Him in your heart like you would talk to me or to your loved one. Here’s an example prayer, “Dear God, I know I’m a sinner. I do things outside of Your Law all the time. I know sinners go to Hell, but I don’t want to go to Hell. I want that eternal life in Heaven that You promised. I confess that I’m a sinner. I confess that You are the sinless God, the Savior, and I want you to be my Savior. Please come into my heart and save me. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
