Volcanic Eruptions

Boiling just below the rocky surface flows hot, molten lava. Even the rocky surface is rough and hard… barren. But, if you get very far from the volcanic heat, you find the most beautiful vegetation, spawned by the highly fertile volcanic ash.

My daughter (DMDD, SPD, OCD, ADGs, mild Autism, Intermittent Explosive Disorder, Bipolar, and Anxiety) reminds me of a volcano–ready to erupt at any moment. But, that’s not all. She’s also beautiful–inside and out, a place of soft, fertile, cultivatable soil. Soil ready to be planted with truths and even more beautiful things than can be imagined.

You see, volcanoes aren’t just known for their eruptions and horrors. People visit volcanoes–tourists from all around the world and locals alike. They’re drawn to them by their uniqueness and beauty. Volcanoes are known to create new islands in the ocean as they erupt. In fact, the Hawaiian islands are volcanic-created islands! Volcanoes are mined for their minerals, nickel, gold, and more!

This is my child–a volcano ready to erupt, but controlled most of the time. Erupting lately. A beauty covered with fertile ground ready to be cultivated and planted.

What am I planting? Am I sowing love? Insecurity? Peace? Anger? Lord, help me to sow the right kinds of seeds!
